office couch and table decommission from greener source for zero waste IT company

Over 15 tons of material were removed from an out-of-state IT management office. From that, 100% of that was diverted from landfill – meaning zero waste!

Objective

Within a week’s notice, over a four-day period, Greener Source successfully removed 15.624 tons of office furniture from a Bellevue, Washington based IT Management Company. From this single building project, 100% of the decommission was selected for resale, creating zero waste.

Challenge(s) & Solution

The decommission included the removal of over 270 office furniture items (88 of those items came from 15 conference rooms) including soft seating, workstations, conference chairs and more. All the items remain in great condition, resulting in all the inventory available for resale. By assessing each item carefully during the decommission process, the maximum number of eligible items, due to quality, were kept out of landfill.

“Greener Source’s ethos is to divert from landfill as much as possible. Our efforts are to make sure that furniture can find the second life it’s meant for–albeit in the non-profit world or within the resale market. Time and time again, we find new and inventive ways to save furniture and give it a new life.”
